ALDI UNVEILS PLANS TO OPEN NEW SHANNON STORE AS PART OF €160M IRISH STORE NETWORK INVESTMENT
15 May, 2020The lowest prices in grocery are coming to Shannon as Aldi today confirmed its plans to open a new store as part of its €160M Irish store network investment programme.
Expected to open in Quarter 1 2023, the new store will be located close to the town centre at Airport Road. A planning application for the 1,315 sqm store along with an additional retail unit has been submitted to Clare County Council.

ALDI TO SELL OVER €27M WORTH OF IRISH GROWN POTATOES THIS YEAR
7 May, 2020Aldi announced it will sell €27 million worth of Irish grown potatoes this year, with New Season Irish Potatoes arriving across 144 Aldi stores since Thursday 7th May. Aldi will be the first retailer to the market with the New Season Potatoes.

ALDI’S FRESH HERBS SWITCH TO RECYCLABLE AND COMPOSTABLE PACKAGING
14 April, 2020Aldi Ireland announced that its own-label Irish sourced potted herbs are now packaged in recyclable and home compostable materials. The change, which came into effect from April this year, will lead to the removal of more than 5.5 tonnes of non-recyclable material will be removed annually from Aldi’s potted herbs range, namely Aldi’s parsley, coriander and basil.

ALDI IRELAND APPOINTS NIALL O’CONNOR AS GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR
6 April, 2020Aldi Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Niall O’Connor to the position of Group Managing Director (GMD) for Aldi Ireland.
Niall was appointed to the position in late 2019 and has spent the last number of months with colleagues across the global Aldi operation in preparation for his new position. Niall will assume overall responsibility for all of Aldi’s activities in Ireland, including its multi-million-euro store-opening programme and Irish Buying office.

ALDI FAST-TRACKING PAYMENT FOR OVER 200 OF ITS IRISH SUPPLIERS
27 March, 2020Aldi has committed to reducing payment terms for its small and medium sized Irish suppliers in response to the COVID-19 crisis, ensuring suppliers get paid as quickly as possible.
The new terms apply to all suppliers that transact up to €1 million worth of business annually and will positively impact over 200 Irish food and drink producers Aldi partners with.

27 February, 2020Aldi Ireland has received the Green Retailer Award at this year’s Green Awards, which took place at The Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road on Tuesday, February 25th 2020.
Aldi was recognised for its company-wide commitment to a series of sustainability initiatives, including packaging and waste reduction, carbon reduction, biodiversity and staff training and awareness.
