Aldi’s Portumna “Project Fresh” store will reopen its doors to customers this Sunday, 7th November, following an extensive €1M renovation project, which has seen the store completely refurbished.
Aldi Ireland has been awarded the title of Plastic Pledge Gold Winner at the 2021 Pakman Awards, in recognition of its work in reducing plastic and packaging waste in their products and stores.
Aldi received the award at Repak’s 2021 Pakman Awards hosted at the Shelbourne Hotel, with judges praising Aldi for its efforts in recycling and supporting the circular economy by reducing and limiting plastic in their product packaging. Two other companies won the Gold Winner award on Friday evening ‐ Coca Cola and Lidl Ireland.

Car park capacity to grow by over 40% in winter 2023
Aldi Ireland today submitted a planning application to extend the capacity of its Oranmore store car park by over 40%. The good news for Oranmore shoppers will see an additional 39 free car parking spaces added, bringing the total capacity to 131.
Aldi’s Clifden “Project Fresh” store has reopened its doors to customers following an extensive €1 million renovation project, which has seen the store completely refurbished.
The newly refurbished store has received a full makeover in line with Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design. Aldi’s Project Fresh store layout was recognised at the Checkout National Retail Supplier Awards, by scooping the Best New Store Build award for Aldi’s Ennistymon store, one of Aldi’s first Project Fresh stores.
Market leader Aldi introduces compostable teabags across all 148 stores
Aldi customers are to become the first to enjoy their hot cuppas sustainably as Aldi introduces new fully biodegradable teabags made from plant-based materials across all its own-label ranges. The switch, which is a first in Irish supermarkets, means each of the 286 million Aldi teabags sold every year will be biodegradable.
From mid-October, customers will start to see the new 100% biodegradable teabags across all of Aldi’s 148 Irish stores, with the full range landing in stores by December. Customers will be able to easily dispose of their teabags by placing them in their compost heap at home or putting them in their brown compost bin. Tea drinkers can rest assured their favourite hot drinks will taste as good as ever.
Aldi scores highly across key criteria in the CXi Ireland Customer Experience Report Index 2021
Irish shoppers have voted Aldi as the supermarket with the ‘best’ customer experience in Ireland, according to the CXi Ireland Customer Experience Report 2021. The findings announced today are based on a comprehensive survey of the Irish public taken during June and July 2021.
The annual CXi Ireland Customer Experience Report 2021 focuses on the feedback of a cross section of Irish consumers on their customer experiences with 150+ companies across 11 sectors. Over 28,000 experiences were evaluated using The CX Framework, with Aldi finishing in the top 10 businesses in Ireland making them the highest ranking supermarket.
Aldi Ireland has agreed a new €3 million deal with Boulta Agri Ltd to supply all of its 148 Irish stores. The new three-year contract will see the company supplying Aldi with its Irish Kiln Dried Kindling and Kiln Dried Bags of Logs under Aldi’s Burn & Glow range.
