WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED! ALDI ITRODUCES NEW CANOPIES ACROSS STORES

Aldi today announced it is rolling out new canopies across 21 of its stores around Ireland from December to shelter customers from adverse weather conditions during the Winter months. The new measure will ensure customers will remain protected and dry while maintaining a safe social distance should the need arise in the run up to Christmas.

Commenting on the initiative, Niall O’Connor, Aldi Group Managing Director said: “These new external canopies will keep shoppers dry and comfortable during the winter months and particularly in the run up to the busiest shopping days of the year”.

“Providing our customers with the best shopping experience possible while ensuring their safety and that of our staff is our number one priority. We have introduced several safety measures across our stores to keep everyone safe and I would like to thank our customers for their ongoing support and patience in adhering to them.”

Aldi Ireland has implemented a series of safety measures across its Irish stores, including:

• A traffic light system is in place which continuously counts the number of customers entering and exiting the store, showing a green light for capacity and a red light when capacity has been reached. This system enables Aldi to ensure appropriate social distancing in each store.

• Clear markers show the space customers must maintain if required to queue for a short time before entering stores.

• Clear protective screens at every till.

• Clear markings to show the 2M distance customers should maintain when paying for their shopping at the checkouts.

• A self-service cleaning station upon entry to stores for cleaning both trolleys and baskets.

• Hand sanitiser for customers at the entrance to stores.

• The transaction limit on contactless payments has been increased to up to €50.
