ALDI KILLALOE NAMED DISCOUNTER STORE OF THE YEAR

Clare-based store awarded title at the National Grocery Retail Awards

Aldi’s Killaloe store has been awarded Discounter Store of the Year at the prestigious National Grocery Retail Awards for its outstanding customer service, excellence in the provision of high-quality food and superior display.

Aldi received the award today at the inaugural National Grocery Retail Awards, hosted by Checkout. The awards showcase the best-in-class in Irish retail and honour the companies and suppliers that help Ireland’s leading stores achieve levels of service and product excellence that set them apart from competitors.

Judges commended Aldi’s Clare-based store of having consistently performed well since opening in December 2019. In particular, the judges noted the Killaloe store team has been working hard to provide an outstanding shopping experience to customers, in addition to maintaining high standards and quality of display across its fresh fruit and vegetable offering.

One of four Aldi stores in Clare, the Killaloe store features Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh layout and design and is powered by 100% green electricity. The store boasts a large shop floor spanning 1,149m², 104 car parking spaces, wide aisles and hi-spec fixtures and fittings. Aldi continues to expand its store network with a total of 149 stores nationwide.

Aldi is committed to growing its Irish supply base and increasing the number of Irish products available in its stores, and currently works with over 330 Irish suppliers. In Aldi Killaloe, Irish-grown produce accounts for up to 50% of the product range, with over 70% of the store’s fruit and vegetable lines also sourced from local Irish suppliers. Aldi has invested more than €3,000,000 in its Grow with Aldi supplier development programme since 2018, which provides an opportunity to Irish food and drink companies to gain a listing in all its 149 stores.
