Dear valued customer,
With the countdown to Christmas now on, I am writing to update you on what we are doing at ALDI to help you get ready for the big day.
This has been a challenging year for so many households and we know lots of people will be worried about the festive period, which is why we are working hard to do all we can to support our customers, colleagues and communities alike.
Here at ALDI, we are determined to offer you everything you need for an amazing Christmas at the best prices possible.
Low prices without compromising quality are what you rely on us for, and as we edge closer to what typically tends to be a particularly expensive time of year, we’re seeing more and more people turn to ALDI as a result.
But don’t take our word for it. Our Christmas range has won a number Gold and Silver accolades at this year’s Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards to demonstrate our incredible quality. Award-winning products include our Specially Selected Irish Cheese Hamper, our Specially Selected Festive Stuffed and Dressed Whole Chicken and our Vintage Christmas Cake among many other products.
Overall, 2022 marked a very successful year of product awards, as ALDI won 71 awards in the Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards, 48 accolades at the Great Taste Awards, and 41 awards at Blas na hÉireann. The National Parenting Product Awards saw ALDI take home 22 accolades. ALDI was also announced as Retailer of the Year at the FreeFrom Food Awards along with 46 product wins across multiple FreeFrom categories.
Not only that, but the Irish Independent recently named ALDI as Ireland’s cheapest supermarket, recognising the amazing value for money we offer.
Store opening times
In the run-up to Christmas, our stores will be open for longer to make it even easier for shoppers to pick up what they need during the festive period. Our Click and Collect service is also available at 20 Irish stores, with slots still available to book.
Since opening in Ireland in 1999, we have closed our doors on Christmas Day, St. Stephen’s Day and New Year’s Day, to thank our colleagues for their hard work and commitment to helping customers throughout the year. This year is no different, as we want all of Team ALDI to enjoy Christmas with their own families.
Supporting communities during the cost-of-living crisis
To provide additional support for those struggling this Christmas, we are donating over €33,300 worth of ALDI gift cards to our charity partner Barnardos, bringing the total number of vouchers donated to Barnardos in 2022 to €58,300. Our gift cards will help support over 300 vulnerable children and families most in need across Ireland over Christmas.
This forms part of our commitment to donating €1 million over the next 2 years having successfully achieved the €1m target for the last two years. To continue working towards this goal, we’d like to ask you, our loyal customers, to help us support those most in need this Christmas by visiting www.Barnardos.ie/Aldi and donating online. Pledging as little as €4 can help Barnardos provide a hot dinner and access to specialised care for a child in a Barnardos after-school club.
As well as this, we will once again be donating surplus food to local charities once stores close on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, as part of our long-established partnership with FoodCloud. A total of 86 local Irish causes will benefit from the donations this year.
Our amazing colleagues
That team is bigger than ever before this Christmas, having recently launched a recruitment drive to fill 450 vacancies across our 155 Irish stores as a result of new store openings and an increase in customer demand ahead of the busy Christmas period. From checkouts to the shop floor, we want to ensure that there will always be someone on hand to help you, our loyal customers.
I want to take this opportunity, on behalf of everyone at ALDI, to wish you a very merry Christmas.
May this Christmas be one for us all to cherish, with friends and families coming together once again this year.
