ALDI has had a long-running partnership with Killowen Orchard Ltd. and is delighted their supplier, JZ Flowers, continues to source Peonies, along with other seasonal flowers through this well-established Irish grower, worth an annual value of over €900,000.
Killowen Orchard Ltd., based in Co. Waterford, has been in business with ALDI for a decade. Each year, it has produced on average 5.3 million stems across ALDI’s floral range including Daffodils, Peonies and Sweet Williams.
Killowen Orchard Ltd. Founder and Managing Director, Adam Green, holds the distinction of being the only Irish grower to be nominated at the prestigious Dutch Flower Awards in over a decade, as well as the only Irish flower grower to reach the finals.
As one of the country’s foremost growers, Green is constantly working to expand and evolve his offering. While stems like peonies are not traditionally native to Ireland, Green currently provides his very own planted flowers to ALDI stores nationwide. As this number of Peonies continues to grow year on year, it is hoped that there will come a point in the near future where all peonies sold in ALDI stores across Ireland will be homegrown.
Speaking about his ongoing partnership with ALDI, Adam Green, Managing Director of Killowen Orchard Ltd., said: “Over the last ten years, we have supplied millions of Irish-produced stems to ALDI. We are grateful to be able to continue our partnership which will see us supply many more Irish-produced flowers, including peonies, and hopefully brighten the homes of ALDI customers across Ireland. With ALDI’s support, we look forward to diversifying our offering over the coming years and supplying even more homegrown flowers than ever before!”
In relation to ALDI’s long-running partnership with JZ flowers, Buying Director Aoife Habenicht said: “We are delighted to continue working Killowen Orchard Ltd, based in Co. Waterford, who work with the talented team at JZ Flowers. At ALDI we are proud to champion Irish producers and support homegrown suppliers all year ‘round and our relationship with leading Irish growers is a real testament to that. Together, we continue to provide the highest quality and best value fresh Irish seasonal flowers across our network of 157 ALDI stores nationwide.”
