Aldi is the first retailer in Ireland to test blockchain technology successfully to validate its corporate buying policy for organic and sustainably produced Irish seafood. Aldi and Verifish are participating in a pilot project with Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Ireland’s seafood development agency. This project is funded under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.

Aldi Ireland is trialling 100% home compostable bags across its 1kg Irish Rooster Potato range, becoming the first retailer in Ireland to do so. If successful, the new packaging would help remove five tonnes of non-recyclable plastic packaging from stores each year across Aldi’s 1kg Irish Rooster Potato range, a change which would impact more than a million bags of potatoes annually.
DUBLIN PIZZA PRODUCER GETS A BIGGER SLICE WITH NEW €3m ALDI CONTRACT9 September, 2020
Aldi Ireland has agreed a new €3 million deal with Dublin-based Pizza Sorrento to supply all its 143 Irish stores. The new contract will see Pizza Sorrento supply Aldi with over 2,500,000 handmade Original and Sourdough Twin Pack Pizza Bases over the next two years.

Aldi Ireland will become the first retailer in Ireland to fully remove all black plastic from its core food range next month. Aldi has cut a massive 30 million difficult-to-recycle black plastic trays from its products and stores, saving 410 tonnes of non-recyclable plastic waste and replacing it with 100% recyclable alternatives.
