Mitchelstown’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on at a festive, family-friendly event on Saturday, 19 November

ALDI promises festive treats and very special guests as Christmas in Mitchelstown is officially opened for business

Christmas is coming to Mitchelstown as the date is confirmed for the official switching on of the town’s Christmas lights. Taking place on Saturday, 19 November from 4pm, it promises to be an evening full of yuletide cheer with joyful Christmas carols along with some very special guests joining the festivities.

This year, ALDI is extending its support of Christmas in Mitchelstown by sponsoring the new Christmas tree, which will join the ALDI-sponsored snowmen as the town’s festive centrepiece. The tree stands at 8 metres high, with built in energy saving LED lights that will ensure it is running as efficiently as possible.

Colin Breslin, Regional Managing Director at ALDI Ireland said: “Christmas is such a special time of year, and we know how much it means for local people and local businesses. We want to ensure that our customers in Mitchelstown and right around the country can celebrate Christmas without compromise – whether that is by enjoying quality Irish products at the lowest prices from ALDI around the dinner table or by bringing some much-needed festive cheer to communities through events like our Christmas lights celebration.”

“We are delighted to be sponsoring the new Christmas tree in Mitchelstown and look forward to celebrating by switching on the Christmas lights with everyone in town. We would encourage everyone to come along on the night for an evening of festive fun!”

Claudia Matassa, Chairperson of the Mitchelstown Business Association said: “Switching on the Christmas lights is always a key moment in the local calendar and lets everyone know that Mitchelstown is open for business. ALDI has always been a huge supporter of the town, and we are thrilled to have them sponsoring our Christmas centrepiece, which I’m sure will attract a lot of people to the town and bring plenty of festive cheer! We hope to see a great crowd at the official switching on of our Christmas lights and for the wider community to continue to come out and support local businesses this Christmas.”

Full details of the Christmas lights event will be announced in the coming weeks, but it promises to be a great evening and is certainly not one to be missed.
